In a small town striving to embrace diversity, a Japanese family with a deaf father and son lives in careful balance — until a Kurdish family moves in nearby. A small incident gently shifts the neighborhood, as children from both families begin reaching across the distance. What starts as a subtle disruption opens a shared space where people slowly begin to rethink what it really means to listen and understand one another.

A warm, lighthearted comedy by Ken Kawai, inspired by his own experience as a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) and by the endangered status of both Japanese Sign Language and Kurdish. Selected as the opening film of the festival Special Guest Q&A with Director Ken Kawai after the following screenings: Opening Night at Riffraff Tue, 26 May19:30 Special Screening at Houdini Wed, 27 May|20:00 & Thu, 28 May|17:50
