Nagi, in Okayama Prefecture, is home to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s Nihonbara Training Area.

The film follows Hide-san and his family, who have spent fifty years in Nagi raising cattle and cultivating fields, while quietly advocating for peace in a town that promotes coexistence and co-prosperity with the Self-Defense Forces.

At its heart, the film asks a lingering question: why did Hide-san, once a medical student in the late 1960s, become a cattle farmer?
