For Sarya, a 17-year-old Kurdish refugee in Japan, life seems to be improving. Her school grades are good enough to pursue college, she has good friends, and her relationship with Sota is becoming special. However, everything changes when her family’s refugee status is rejected, restricting their ability to work and move freely around the city. Her father, who had been working to support them, is detained for illegal employment. Now, Sarya must take responsibility for her younger siblings and her own existence.
